Silent Hunter 3 on Intel Arc B580

I am in the process of upgrading my computer and haven't decided on a graphics card yet.
The Intel-cards are tempting but there seems to be problems with some older titles.
Has anyone tried running SH3 on the Intel Arc B580? Been trying to find information about it but no luck so far.

I tried to get the 5070Ti but no luck for me. So I got the B580 which my daughter will inherit in the summer
The card will arrive tonight, so I will have a verdict this week I guess :)
If SH3 is not working I guess I have to stick to UBoat to get my subfix until I get another card.
Will let you know how everything goes :)

Dumb solution

Silent hunter does not really need a good graphics card. Has your motherboard got built in graphics? If you get big trouble you could try using that connector. I expect it would manage vanilla, but may struggle with the latest and greatest supermods.
I've always found a way to get the game running on all the various hardware I've owned over the years, lately under Linux. There's always a way even if it involves a fair amount of faffing about sometimes.

ooops repeating myself. Sign of old age.

Got the computer up and running. Installed SH3 through Steam and it started up fine.
I got a bit suspicious so I installed MSI Afterburner but it reports that it is the B580 being used.
No mods or anything installed, but so far so good.

No you are ok, Newcomers don't understand,It's a old game and to get it to work, is a lot of work, with today's ,graphs cards and systems. If you want to play this game. It's an endeavour. But i will say this ,We who have been around and played this game for years. It will forever live in our hearts and memories..

As I told you Intel are not specialists in the field..I am not against changing to another brand but Intel has taken people for "fools" with their I7 & 9 & "some I5" processors on their last two LGA 1200 & 1700 sockets..Their management technique pushes you to buy a motherboard with each new chipset... when it is not with their new Windows full of bloatware that swells every month and ends up rotting your machine...then this time patching overclockable processors that end up not being there anymore is the height of irony!!!...But with Intel the bigger it is the better it is...
I am delighted to see a new period arrive with RYZEN which gives them a spanking...and I think NVIDIA will soon have its own...
Finally, the latest PlayStation 5s are equipped with RYZEN. When I see the Xbox Series X has lower potential in terms of calculation and its rendering on the screen, especially on certain games, it's Badass.

I wonder who understands what here ..??:hmmm:
The old games work very well on a well-tuned machine ... I add that if we are lucky enough to have high-performance hardware, some old games are even prettier in 4K Oled:O:

Have you checked the System in Windows. If everything works I am happy for you having compatibility problems is always Badass
Be careful with Afterburner..with certain cards of different brands such as Asus Gygabite..etc
I used it for a long time because it is free and has some interesting functions on the other hand I do not recommend the MSI Graphic Cards.. as well as their motherboard..

Yes, very good idea but mods such as NYGM.. GWX KC.. today require a certain power threshold...if you have a good motherboard with these functions it can help but I do not guarantee optimal stability..
