Getting back on the bandwagon

Hi all,
So after a long looooooong I've got the itch to start a new SH3 campaign.

My question is in the 10+ years I haven't touched SH3 what is the best go-to supermod These days?
I played the life out if GWX back in the day but I haven't a clue where to start now..

For me GWX these days means OneAlex, which offers a very easy install. Take a look at Tonci87 or Wolfpack345 on Youtube to see what this is like. Some people have been having issues with this lately.

I got tired of the super capabilities of escort hydrophones in GWX and I've moved on to NYGM. I understand that Fifi's NYGM enhanced hardcore steel coffins edition is where it's at if this is your thing. This is a bit more complicated to install.

I run SH3 on my ancient Linux laptop, so both the above run as slideshows for me! However a modern laptop or PC should have no problems.

The 4Gb patch (or the HSie/Stiebler patch, which includes it) was always essential for supermods. In fact most of them are now pushing against the 4Gb limit and are having to leave nice stuff out even with the patch.

Windows 10 and 11 are very sniffy about modding. Make sure you do not install the game under "Program Files" or "My Documents"

If you want to get back into SH3, you should check out Living Silent Hunter, i.e. LSH 2022, not too hard and it really improves the game.
