Terror strike on German christmas market in Magdeburg
https://www.bbc.com/news/live/c1j08p44w9kt
Last news on German TV says 11 dead, 50+ injured. The murderer is a Saudi, says the police, police further suspects explosive devices aboard the car used for the attack. Hospitals speak of a mass casualty event. Just two days ago I red another stupid debate on whether or not christmas markets are discriminating by name and should be renamed as "winter festivals" to not provoke members of the religion of peace and tolerance. |
It's terrible.
How naive can people get-Thinking rename a Christmas market to winter festival should prevent these terror attacks. Markus |

That's not the statement that has been made. ---- According to official statements two people have been reported dead, with 70 people injured, most of them lightly. The suspected perpetrator, a Saudi national who works as a doctor in Saxony-Anhalt, has been arrested. He's been living and working in Germany since 2006. |

However, due to the multiplication of knife-related crimes (and we tlak about combat knifes), they have banned knifes in general at these and other events, public hotspots, train stations, public buildings, for example the train station in my town in general does not allow you to even carry a common Swiss army kinife with two-hands-operation blade, not even a small 3 cm fruit peeling knife the size of a toothpick on your keychain - in reaction to foreigners having boosted knife attacks and stabbings by factors said to between 6 and 9 in the last 3 or 4 years. Over 80 million German citizens, most of them peaceful and law-abiding, now have been declared as potential supects. Nice. In some cities they seriousl consider to ban all public places outside your household from carrying any sort of even smallest Swiss army tool knifes. - The problem is that they say "in the public its banned". What is "oublic?" Any sopace outsiode your rovate property or household. So if you carry a normal lets say fisherman's or small camping knife while sitting by the river and doing some fishing, you already violate the law. Same whehn you doi work on your camping palce where your sacravan stands with others - that plac eis condiered to be "public", take a small kinif eotuside to smear butter on a slice of bread, anbd you are violating the law. That is no exaggeratiuon. ITS HILARIOUS. Its being reported that on christmas markets police controls - old people and pensioneers for the most. HI-LA-RI-OUS. ------------- The numbers given on the victims are in flux: the number of killed ones is down, the number of injured ones is up. |
There have been at least two suspected attacks in the past two weeks; the supposed bombs turned out to be suitcases filled with sand. A silly boy's prank? Or some kind of exercise to see how the security forces react? A ban on suitcases has been in force at the Christmas market at Cologne Cathedral since Monday. This means that visitors are not allowed to take any items of luggage larger than everyday bags. Of course. Granny with the bag is dangerous. And btw, the cathedral is in direct and closest proximity to the train station. Many people with luggage.
State security officers have averted another potential catastrophe. A 17-year-old is said to have planned a terrorist attack on a Christmas market. He is said to have already taken driving lessons in order to drive a truck into a crowd of people, according to reports from northern Germany. According to investigators, the alleged attack plans of a 17-year-old from Elmshorn in Schleswig-Holstein were Islamist-motivated. The Flensburg public prosecutor's office announced that the Islamist-extremist attitude of the 17-year-old from Elmshorn had recently resulted in sufficiently concrete plans for an attack. In the course of the extensive investigations, a considerable radicalization of the accused was noticed. ----------------- It is also worth knowing that the law authorizing the police to search passers-by for knives at Christmas markets contains a passage, at the insistence of the Greens, according to which people may not be selected for the check on the basis of occasion or appearance, as this would be discriminatory. Conversely, this means that only people who do not look suspicious may be checked. Old people and pensioners. The danger comes from middle-eastern looking men of Mohammedan faith, obviously, but this must neither be said (saying this can now be classified as a criminal offense!) nor used as a basis for action. The suspects must therefore be ignored! You have to admire the Greens for their flashes of genius. If totally insane, then insanity with German perfection, please. |
Moment Magdeburg attack 'suspect, 50, from Saudi Arabia is arrested with explosive device in car after killing at least two and injuring up to 80 when he drove BMW into crowd at Christmas market in Germany'
https://www.dailymail.co.uk/news/art...evice-bmw.html It's not an attack on the citizens of Germany then as he just wanted to blow himself up, that's good news isn't it. :O: |
It is not the first terror attack we had here in Europe and it will sadly not be the last.
I do not possess the right solution to solve this problem. Expel every Muslim ? NO! Markus |
If that person really wanted he could have more victims. If he just walked in that market and detonated the bomb...

That's the Daily Mail for you. There was no explosive device in the car. The perpetrator didn't have a bomb. |
The suspect's X account contains a lot of anti-islam postings, as well as pro-AfD postings, as well as criticism of the German governemnt. There's also a lot of rather weird postings.
He also was rather popular among the Saudi expat community, turned away from islam in the 1990s and is an oputspoken critic of the Saudi government. He seems to have gone full bonkers. From all that is known it seems very unlikely, bordering impossible, that this guy was an islamic fundamentalist. Of course, the typical stupid German youtube/x comment writer won't understand that, as their limited brain capacity doesn't allow them to consider something like that. |
Yeah, there was a list with examples of his weired posts somewhere, and it sounds he really is nuts, accusing the police of spreading Islamism and Germany and German people killing apostates and stuff like that.
They often early and easily mention "mental problems" when there is another terror supect event or crime by migrants, so you better take such comments with a grain of salt - but this guy really seems to have lost his marbles. |
The suspect was intervied by German newspaper Frankfurter Allgemeine Zeitung in 2019. They have republished the interview:
https://www.faz.net/aktuell/feuillet...-16235203.html (it's in German, but google translate should easily translate it to English). In this interview he presents himself as an outspoken critic of islam (which is also supported by numerous X postings he made over the years. |
Police says a first swipe test for drugs was positive, reports Focus.
And Focus further: police says now 4 dead, 41 severly injured, 164 further injured. And: [Focus] The man from Saudi Arabia who was arrested after the attack at the Christmas market in Magdeburg gave an interview to an Islamophobic US blog eight days ago. In it, he expressed radical theses and spoke of a “covert secret operation” by the German state. The aim was to “hunt down Saudi ex-Muslims and destroy their lives”. The alleged assassin published a post at the time of the attack in which he blamed the “German citizens” for his persecution in Germany. He had previously spoken of “revenge” and announced that he wanted to “take revenge on the German nation”. ------------------- He also says he were Germany's "most aggressive Islam critic", and he said that he accuses Germany and the Germans of trying to islamize Europe. edit: now 5 dead, says Der Spiegel. |
What a total and utter tragedy.
