SH3 Commander Issues

1. On Selecting 9/1939, The career never actually begins in Sep. but in Aug always. why? it's infuriating?
2. Why it always crashes on loading career saved patrol when around ships. (Have clean installed everything after it happening few times, let's see if it happens again)
3. How to change renown and such of my Captain?

that is common problem when you save near others ships, sunk ships and ports => it can cause corrupted save game which always crashes the game.

Recommended distance for saving is min. 50 km from other ships and ports iirc.
I also make new save game for saving to not corrupt previous save game file so I can use it for return to previous position in case of corrupted save game to not lose whole patrol (dont use the same save game for saving for whole mission).

To simulate the sending of U-boats to the North Atlantic before the war started as was really done in WWII.

Old Sh3 game bug, not an SH3 Commander bug. Saving under water is also bugged. The latest NYGM edition has finally solved the saves problem.

@HW3 I Have GWX, Should I Get NYGM? I think they are two super mods, so not at all but damn, that sucks. :(

To avoid corrupted saves, I highly recommend to have only one megamod installed at a time on a very cleaned PC (no laptop) and the less background applications running as possible …
SH3 Commander is not bugged at all, it’s a wonderful must have application, certainly the best ever for SH3!
Here, for testing purposes, I often save close to harbors, underwater or not, very close to convoys etc without reloading problems :yep:
But each one’s PC is always different…

yes, it gives you time to move to uboat operation areas.
I tried it and move to british harbour. Then when war started, I sunk all british ships there :arrgh!:

I just ran a test with my setup and was able to start a campaign on 01/09/39 no problems using SH3 Commander. I'm using GWX 3.0:

It's got nothing to do with giving you a "headstart" in August as some megamods do. SH3 Commander gives you the options to choose what you want and it works perfectly... when it works (currently having some issues of my own at present :D).

But yeah, this is a pretty flawless feature which probably indicates there's something wrong with your installation, if it's not working.

Please tell us about where you've installed SH3 and Commander, and any mods you've installed. This might help the SH3 forum members to diagnose the problems and give the right answers and advice. Best wishes Herr Kaleun.

@stork100 I have it all installed in my "D:/silenthunter/". I have SH3 with GWX, V16B1, V16b1 Supplement in JSGME and Commander Installed in "C:/" with My installation located within it using browse feature. That's all.

The main issue in the past with Commander was if it was installed in any of the Program Files folders, and that would cause issues with settings not taking effect. But if you've avoided those then that shouldn't present many problems. Do all other Commander related settings work as expected when you start the campaign, like U-boat type/number, patrol grid, career options in the preferences etc?

Also, and apologies if this seems like a silly question, but are you actually launching into the game via the SH3 Commander interface, which is needed for the settings to take effect? If so and all other aspects are working properly I can't really think of much else at the present for why only the start date would be wrong. Maybe try compatibility settings on SH3Cmdr.exe (Windows 7) and run as Administrator if not already. Best I've got for now I'm afraid. Hope to see you get it sorted. :)
