ARB WideGUI 1920x1080 Problem.
Greetings,
ARB WideGUI 1920x1080 Throws "Cannot Initialize 3D Engine" upon installing by JSGME. Have Installed the following Mods (In Order): 1. V16b1 Patch 2. Tycho Patch Had GWX 3.0 Already Implemented on SH3. The ARB Works When Resolution is changed to 1440x900 in d3d9.ini but it is cornered with most of screen cut like below: https://www.reddit.com/r/silenthunte...1920x1080_v04/ That would be all. :Kaleun_Salute: |

deja vu again
The "cannot initalize 3d" thing occurs when your graphics card decides it cannot support the resolution and refresh rate asked for in d3d9.ini. Windows display properties will give a list of supported display modes which are determined by the graphics card and monitor talking to each other like two drunks in a bar. The resolution and refresh rate in d3d9.ini has to be something from this list.
Setting Refreshrate to false turns off this part of the check and can help. However it looks like your monitor has a slightly different aspect ratio (16:10) to the one the mod wants (16:9), or possibly just not enough pixels. It is sometimes possible to set up custom display modes to work round this but it isn't straightforward. i would look for a different widescreen mod such as WideScreen MaGui, which is aimed at a less ambitious 1366x768 |
@Hooston Thank you, I will Just Go ahead and do that.

quick question for Hooston
Hooston, where do you find the option to turn the REFRESHRATE to false. I collect troubleshooting solutions and I see this a lot. Your explanation was clear.

Incantations
My d3d9.ini file in the folder where sh3.exe lives includes the following for my 1366 x 768 display running WideScreen MaGui v3.4 SA. Note the CaPital LetTers, not sure if it matters.
[ENGINE] DisplayWidth=1366 DisplayHeight=768 Refreshrate=false ARB WideGUI 1920x1080 seems to use the same directX wrapper and the same magic works there. I think I probably got this from the SH3 forum on Steam. I run the game using the Wine compatibility layer on Linux, but should be the same on various flavours of Windows. My shiny new expensive Windows 11 PC has been nationalised by my youngest daughter, so very old Linux machines are all I have! |
Thank you
Got it Thanx
