Suddenly Not Working

I have both SH4 and SH4WotP on Steam. Both have worked flawlessly for years. Now. suddenly, with no computers change or anything, neither will launch. Anyone else face this?

Welcome back!

argonne18! :Kaleun_Salute: By 'no changes" I presume you are still on WIN 10 since your 2/'21 'admin patch' issues? If nothing come to your aid, a PM to Propbeanie could help.:hmmm:

Hey, thanks for your response!
Yes, I did not express myself well. I still have win 10, and have had no issues since 2021... Just suddenly not launching in Steam. I just tried to launch from the steamapps folder and it gave me an error code 'd3dx9_32.dll was not found.
Uninstalled/reinstalled twice, no good. Manually put the dll file in main folder - no change.

Thanks for your idea!
So, I am running directx 12, which is supposed to be backwards compatible. Reinstalled it, still no change.

Okay, wow.
So I restored back to a few weeks ago in my system, uninstalled and reinstalled, set compatibility to Win 7 and disabled high DPI.
Viola! But what the heck?

It is , but older pc games run better or even require the older libraries found in DirectX 9c. Installing it just adds these to those in your DirectX 12. Lots of info on the internet about this and how it works.
