Silent Hunter 3 (vanilla) navies

Hi all!

I'm currently playing vanilla Silent Hunter 3 and I saw that in Museum you can scroll through ships of some nations. Do you know where in Carieer mode I can encounter for example Soviet, Japanese or Romanian ships? While I'm on map screen in Carieer mode I can see that ports of Constanza or Murmansk are displayed but I was never given an option to patrol in their vicinity (because grids are not displayed there I suppose).
So do you know where I can encounter those "rare" ships from this countries? (I mean not only Soviet Japanese or Romanian ones but also Indian or New Zealand's)

If you want to patrol around the Constanza area, you'll need to run a Black Sea career.

Thanks for the answer!

I know about GWX Black Sea campaign, but I'm curious about vanilla game without any addons.

Gotcha, Sorry, I wouldn't know then, since I've never played SHIII Vanilla. I jumped right in with GWX2, back in the day. Ya know, with all the major mods I play, I should give it a go. Just for the experence. I might learn somethimg new by playing something old. On that note. A friend just gave me an old WinME computer, I should give SHII a shot, just to see how far we've come. Only thing though is, I don't even know if it starts yet. With the holidays coming, that will haf to be a January project. OK, not to derail your post, I'll back out.

I have a good news for you. My Silent Hunter 3 vanilla works just fine on Windows 11 and it worked the same on Win 10 so there is a High chance you dont have to change your PC to older one :) (only thing that is still anoying me is that Silent Hunter likes to crash to desktop when you least expect it so you have to save the game often).

Anyway if someone knows where I can find ships from countries I wrote in first post please let me know :)

didn't know SHII (SH2) would work on a win10 machine. I do have SHIII on a win 10 computer, no problem there.

You may invest a Minute to find the interested regions by using "mySH3-TooL" and the "Sh3MissionEditor" (ME). Use the correct Country-names found in "SH3:\data\Roster\DefSide.cfg". For example in vanilla SH3 they are called India, NewZealand (NoSpace!), Romania, Russia and Japan.
Use Button [mis2csv] on Campaign_RND.mis and *SCR.mis. Then put in the Text-Field one Country-Name for example "Origin=India" and push [ExtrctUnt]. Next [Campaigne Renum] on the result. Next [csv2mis]. Then use ME to open this Result. Now you can see the Units where the Country can be found. It isnt that hard.

As you have seen in Museum the Ships look almost the same for different countries. Only the Flag is another one. What is your benefit to see an Indian-Ship? I would not go the loooong way to the left-coast of india only to see Indian-Ships.
