“With heavy hearts, we bid farewell to US Navy rear admiral and NASA astronaut Ken Mattingly. His brave contributions providing critical decisions to rescue the Apollo 13 crew, and serving as a key player in the Apollo and early Shuttle programs will long be remembered.”

During one of his interviews, he said something that summed up being an astronaut.

While orbiting the moon on Apollo 16, he was tasked with so many scientific experiments that time management became an issue.

He recollected one instance where he was taking scientific measurements and he had his flight suit down by his ankles; a urine collection tube attached; the "Top Hat" feces collection bag stuck to his butt; munching on a meal.. all at the same time.

That's what it was like being an astronaut. Doing 5 things in the times it takes to do 3 while thinking of 10 other things. :salute:
