Silent Depth 2: Pacific
Saw this pop-up on Steam and on SubSim news from the mighty resurrected MicroProse. First thought is it looks a lot like U-boat to me, just with a Gato and in the Pacific.

worth looking into.
that deck gun looks a bit nuclear though |
No multiplayer?
No PvP mode? :hmmm: |
Finally the new "microprose" releases an almost interesting game after years, aaand... it's straight to early access. Have little hopes for it, from the trailer it seems really half assed.

If you want to get in early and provide constructive feedback and bug reports, it could be worth it for you right now. I've been playing a bit and reporting bugs in the discord, so if that's not your speed I would recommend waiting a bit. Feels a bit like a very, very early (cannot stress the early enough) Crash Dive 2 in it's current state. |
Some further thoughts taken from a convo I had on the Subsim discord:
I've run in to a lot of graphical anomalies and bugs. It has potential and I think will be a good game with some patches and time. In terms of complexity as it currently stands, I would say less complex than Crash Dive 2 (which is great fun).No TDC for example and you can't say see your torpedo wake yet (coming soon) which is kind of a strange one for me. For targeting right now, you put a ship in your binoculars until the yellow turns green and just fire away. As far as I can tell there really is no aiming of any sort. I've reported some bugs but have not had time to talk with the devs on their vision for the future. This is what is on the steam page currently in terms of what to expect: https://clan.akamai.steamstatic.com/...f6c6429b24.jpg |
Looks interesting. Glad they forgo the rooms filled with human avatars. To me, it really did not add much and only made the rendering calculations more GPU extensive.
Interesting bit of trivia, but it looked like they finally found someone who understood underwater explosions. I had not seen depth charges modeled this accurately visually. |
Yes, I bought to support...
let's wait and see.... a real potential... but it's not enough... let them work..it's still too early https://image.noelshack.com/fichiers...29211812-1.jpg :03::subsim: |
