Sorry you're having issues. One question though, after installing Onealex, did you empty your Save folder (by default, "C:\Users \UserName \Documents \SH3"), or possibly use MultiSH3 and create a new one? |

Hello captains, I've recently come back to sh3 after finally getting a new (second hand) pc! I found out about the one Alex mod after realising I have no disc drive to pop sh3 into. But I'm having the exact same issue as op, training missions work fine, single missions or career, ctd a few moments after the load bar hits 100%.
I've searched the forum but can't seem to find a solution. It's also making me realise just how computer illiterate I truly am. Did anyone solve it? Could anyone please explain what I'm doing wrong, in terms a child of the 80's would understand lol. Thanks in advance to anyone who helps this old man get back to sinking merchants, like he did in 2018! o7 |

Save games from F2 COMMAND ROOM screen
Saving games from F2 COMMAND ROOM screen was the thing that solved all my saved game crashes, you can even save submerged. Any other save game issues were caused by altering/loading files in the middle of a campaign or mission. Rule of thumb is don't change anything except in port unless you really know what you're doing.

SOLUTION IS HERE!!!!!!!
Regarding the one Alex mod crashing problem which some players are experiencing particularly during career and single missions start , the game would load normally then crash in mid career loading screen. And no matter what you do, install, reinstall, patch, modify it won't start.
Luckily 'I HAVE A SOLUTION NOW'. It took me several months to test again and again in Vain and i wasted so much time while the solution could be rediculously easy and stupid and doesn't need so much effort at all. To run Silent Hunter 3 Onealex Mod you should Follow the following instructions: 1- Download Silent Hunter 3 Onealex Mod English Version : https://drive.google.com/file/d/18Fi...DmQDVAE1Y/view 2- Download Silent Hunter 3 Onealex Mod Russian Version https://drive.google.com/file/d/1ct8...usp=drive_link 3- Now delete any SH3 folders you have in your Documents file 4- Open your GWX Onealex Edition 1.5.3 ( the English version) and open SH3/data and copy the Menu folder you will find there 5-Open GWX Onealex Edition 1.5.3R ( the Russian version) In your SH3/data foder create a new folder and name it 'Backup' or whatever you want. 6-move the menu folder inside the data there and paste it inside the Backup folder you just create ( just in case you will face problem which i highly doubt ) . Now copy the menu folder from the one alex mod English version to the the data folder inside the onealex mod Russian version. 7-Congratulations now you have a fully operational English menu 8- run the SH3.exe from the onealex edition Russian version only and follow the instructions included in this discord channel as normal and it will work like a charm, i tested it it's fully operational in all dates , career , single missions etc. No problems at all. ######## very important ### At the beginning it could require very long time to load!!!! Don't do anything just wait let it load and be patient. |

Smells like 4Gb to me
Running the training missions but crashing during career smells like running out of usable memory because of Windows limits on 32 bit programs. This has always been solved in SH3 by the "4Gb patch" which actually lets the program access more than 2Gb and up to a theoretical maximum of 4Gb..
Onealex is too much for my graphics chip, but I understand the OneAlex modsoup includes the HSie/Steibler patch, which also does the 4Gb thing. So what's going on? Has Onealex messed up? In that case try downloading a different build of his supermod. i think that's why the Russian version works OK. If he has made a mistake none of the HSie/Steibler features will be working. The Steibler patch updates the version number displayed in the bottom right corner of the initial selection screen from something like "1.4b" without the patch to "v 1.6b1" (in my case). Or, god forbid, have we now hit 4Gb for this tiny little 32 bit application? |
I find that after starting the game and before doing anything else, starting the Naval Academy Convoy training and then immediately quitting it will load much of the routines that are needed for the game.
After quitting the convoy training, then start your career or load your saved game and see if it now starts up. |
Working Great But russian ship sunk names?

????...what file to change to have them in english names please. |
Hi,
This method worked for the Onealex mod. So, is there a way to change up the Russian wording to English? My Russian isn't great. :) Any help is appreciated! edit: I think I can just copy / paste the info that I need from one game version to the other. 'Light' modding so to speak. :) edit: Got it to work. The Russian version is now fully English a few added modded. Got it running on a 27" monitor at 1920 x 1080. Torpedo los! Das klingelt mir gut! hehe ..... |
