Seattle podcaster and husband killed at their home by crazed Texas trucker.

Seattle podcaster and her ex-Google engineer husband killed at their $1.6m home by crazed Texas trucker who stalked her after listening to her show

Quote:

She told police how he'd shown up at their home uninvited, delivering flowers and even once promising to send a musical band to play outside.

'He contacted my husband and continues to do so. He has come to my neighborhood several times, staying at inns around my neighborhood, he has parked down my street in hopes of seeing me.

At one point, he threatened to end her marriage.

'I am suffering a deep-seated fear for my safety,' she said.

No, I know what you're thinking, I have my alibi ready.:arrgh!:

But g-dammm, at what point do you acknowledge he is a real threat and take him out?

After reporting the stalker and collecting the information on his behavior she built a pretty good case. IF it went to trial, I think any jury would understand the level of fear she felt. I own a means to defend myself, did she?. If he came poking around my property I would have terminated the source of my fear.

Yes, exactly. How many movies have we watched where some criminal is terrorizing a homeowner, threatening to break in and do violence and the homeowner arms himself with... a base ball bat or a golf club?

Dang, I would leave the front door unlocked, come on in, fool. My .44 Magnum and I are waiting for you. :hmmm:

In this case, the stalker had shown he was a serious threat a thousand times over. I mean, I can clearly tell the man is deranged from all the calls and stalking. There's no reason to allow him to set the date and time of the confrontation. If the State won't protect me, I certainly will.

In short, if you act crazy and threatening to me, don't be surprised if I act pretty crazy and dangerous right back.

What is the probability of needing a firearm to defend oneself? I’d wager the vast majority of people, including myself, would say slim to none.

But when it it comes to firearms ownership and conceal carry, I don’t think about probabilities.

I only consider what the consequences would be of not having one if I needed it.
