Guitarist Jeff Beck Passes away ( From August ) in the music thread
Quote:
This one hurts. I had just mentioned Jeff Beck in the music thread, yesterday. Quote: A fleet, imaginative soloist, Beck brought formidable instrumental firepower to British band the Yardbirds, which he joined in 1965 as a replacement for Eric Clapton. Entirely at home with the group’s blues roots, he burnished their pop hits with an adventurous and virtually unprecedented use of feedback, sustain and fuzz. After a precipitous exit from the Yardbirds — where he had been joined by another future guitar star, Jimmy Page — he established his own band, the Jeff Beck Group, which was fronted by vocalist Rod Stewart, soon to become a solo star. The unit proved as unstable as it was powerful, and lasted for just two albums. During the ’70s, Beck assembled a second, more R&B-oriented edition of his group, and briefly formed a short-lived power trio with bassist Tim Bogert and drummer Carmine Appice of Vanilla Fudge and Cactus. https://variety.com/2023/music/news/...es-1235486491/ One of Jeff Beck's best with Rod Stewart. People get ready. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=2nvVXjoNCOU Rest in peace Jeff and thanks for the great music and stopping by. Your train is ready. |
Damn, this is sad news indeed. :nope: I was a big fan.
Rest in peace, Mr. Beck. |
I think I mentioned this a long time ago. I saw Jeff Beck and Jennifer Batten play live at the House of Blues in NOLA. Freaking awesome night, standing room only. Thank god for recording technology I can keep listening.

Sad news. I first heard Jeff Beck in 1966. An album by the Yardbirds, Over Under Sideways Down.
And this is why he is so well regarded. Rollin and Tumblin live at Ronnie Scott's. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=uuXcGHjBeac |
He lived in Wadhurst, East Sussex, where my mum was born, but I must've missed bumping into him on more than one occasion in the late 70's - early 80's as he used to frequent a pub where a lot of local bands played (including mine, once) and even joining in sometimes. A mate of mine who led one of the other bands (Terminal Twist) met him and got invited for a jam - nobody from that Tonbridge crowd has had anything but good things to say about the guy
