True: I once got stood up by a girl who told me her mother used to be a girlfriend of Frank Sinatra. I didn't feel so bad later when I found out she didn't show because she'd been rushed from work in an ambulance (appendicitis)

Can you tell us something almost unbelievable that you were personally involved in?

I was dubbed a "Cheeky Sod" by an English lass once for teaching an ignorant struggling (but desireable) artist that one's 'dèclôttage' was part of one's upper anatomy...not the lower! I'd hoped it would rejuvenate his career! Having looked up both; "dècolotte" refers more to the low-cut" garment itself ...whereas "dèclôttage" refers to the revealed 'cleavage' per se, and allows a polite :subsim:er to avoid the coarse Teutonic word: "tits":o:nope: which would be offensive to our myriad lady members.:hmmm::shucks::yeah: @ Jimbuna: I've been within touching distance of several dèclôttages over the decades...:O::arrgh!: but once had the infamous unabomber, Ted Kacyznski, within touching distance (1980's) exiting of a small Sacramento gun shop even as I entered. I'd gone to get superior German percussion caps for blackpowder re-enacting. He was bearded, scruffy, in a trench coat; and looked like a homeless person. We made eye contact as I stood aside and he kept looking over his shoulder at me as we parted. I thought no more of it till years later, when he was finally arrested, and I saw the news photos!...the shop also sold black and nitrate gunpowder suitable for his infernal devices...( infernal!?? today is Guy Fawkes Day!).

^ A lot of folks (fawkes?) had their firework displays last night - just as well for them since right now it's cold, windy and very very wet out there

What's worse is Ted Kacynznski's family turned him in to the authorities. His family doesn't care. They don't care, I tell ya.

I'm sure they cared around the 4th of July though. I'm sure Ted had some great fireworks and explosives for the family Independence day picnic / gatherings. :haha:

I met Erich Von Daniken....a genuinely nice guy :yep:

@ Eich. Re Frank Sinatra.....he saved my life. A couple of guys were beating me up, I thought they were going to kill me....and then....I still remember his voice...." Ok boys, that should be enough".

With the voluntary fire brigade I once had to rescue a teenager who had his head stuck in a toilet. To this day I don't know how he managed to get his head there, let alone how he got it that deep down to get stuck.

Nothing a large amount of cooking oil couldn't fix.

I regret it now - I think I may have mentinoed this once before - but I was present when someone was lowered head-first into the Twyfords. In fact it was I who pulled the chain. I'm not proud. But I was only 18
