Trumpeter 1/144 Gato Class
 

This is my Gato Class sub from Trumpeter. I added some PE detailing from a set I found online - it was a while ago so I can't remember the source. The barrel of the rear AA gun has been broken in our recent house move so a little repair work is needed once my modelling room is set up.

I have a much larger sub in my stash - a 3-foot model of the SSRN Seaview from Voyage to the Bottom of the Sea. Waiting to get the lighting kit before I start on it.

A real beauty, you have done a great job.

Tell me about the limber holes, were the predrilled, or did you drill them out/paint them? I have one model so far I attempted to paint the holes black and it was not as uniform as I would prefer.

The limber holes were pre-drilled. You can buy stick-on patches as part of the detailing kit to depict the closed vents on the top of the ballast tanks. If I remember correctly they also provided masks for marking out the flood vents along the bottom of the tanks, but I didn't do that.

Er...no. It will be hard enough finding room for the Seaview when it is done, definitely won't be able to add one that is 1.4m long.

I live in my own house, so I have room for these big models.

On my want-to-build-list is
(number 1 is not a model it's a steering wheel with pedals)
2. Trumpeters Titanic 1/200
3. Avro Lancaster 1/32
4. Abram MBT 1/16
5. Pontiac Firebird Trans AM 1/8 (Revell)
6. This submarine in scale 1/48.
7. An Agora Car model 1/8.

Forgot something important.

I hope that you will post picture of your building process when you start on your Seaview model.

I will try and remember to do that once I get started. I first need to get my model room set up, then get the lighting kit for the model.

One of my bedroom has been rearranged to a hobby room. Bought a old cheap dinner table and a old chair(this will be changed to a gaming chair)

So I have 210X95 cm on which I can build models.

On the wall above this dinning table I will put up shelfs to my tools and paint.

Yes, I'm very interested in seeing how you manage the electrical portion.

You learn by doing and mistake will be made, from these mistake you will learn a lot.

The Titanic model I want to build is with lightning-Never been working with a model where there's LED's with it. I have to learn during my build and I will make mistake-Not that I hope it will. But my experience tells me otherwise

Pay a visit to the Trekworks channel on YouTube. The guy there does a lot of model work, not just starships, and uses various types of lighting. His results are amazing.

Yes, that's a good channel, I have watched several of his videos.
