How to force SH3 to give a Zero "0" Grid (Patrol Area)
Hi All,
how to force SH3 to give a Zero "0" Grid (Patrol Area). Not to confuse "0" with "NULL". Null - is intended, means You have to go to Homeport. 0 - is Nonsens, means something wrong in Flotilla.cfg, missing PQ-entry, and is not possible to reach since PQ (Planquadrat) 0 does not exist. This PQ 0 can be shown in unmodified SH3 with a XXI and a Base-Change. Since not all Bases have XXI-entries in all needed times. To fasten the following Test and make it reproducable a slighter Mod is taken. Code:
o Make a Backupcopy of your MyDocuments\SH3-folder. More or less the same for 2nd and 29th Flotilla. 7th, 10th and 12th OK. You may ask, what is this all about. Well, i'm struggling with Flotilla.cfg to find out whats going on. Greetings. |
Hebe,
If you find the answer to this issue, you will have many grateful people thanking you. :yep: If I can assist in any way let me know. :salute: Good hunting, FUBAR295 |
The answer was found long long ago.
For example was worked into a Flotilla.cfg by WB's Mod "XXI_1939.rar" (when i remember correctly by WB Wredford Braun). 'Simply' put in the missing Lines for each used Month. :03: The chance to stumble across this issue is very thin. But now it is officially known where it comes from, as it is written down. :D Greetings. |
Was wondering how long it would take you all to figure this out.
:har: |
Well, you're not forced to go to the designated patrol area to play a campaign IIRC. If you don't reach it, you'll simply not have any renown points for this missed action. But I may be wrong, as the last time I played a campaign is probably more than 10 years ago... :D

Can't tell you, the number of times I got a Zero "0" Grid (Patrol Area), in various mod set versions... instances, that come to mind are within LSH3 v15, notably... quite a few times, in fact.... NOT disparaging Urmels work by any means... just noting it did crop up in there :yep: &... not sure but seem to recall it occurring in 1 of the other mod sets, but... which 1 exactly.. not sure, as it was.. many, many moons back, & just once... that I can recall of.
Main gist is... it can & does occur. What I did, on them instances of it rearing its head, was... to simply shrug, shove off from whatever base I was at... head out to run a 'seek & destroy operation... making sure to sink as much as I could... before running out of ammo (see torps, deck gun) then... simply do an RTB... & move on. :Kaleun_Salute: M. The Stock game does that also, when restoring a Save, and you'll see the Latitude and Longitude listed at times as starting at 0 degrees of both. Notice sometime also, that if you use the <Tab> key to zoom in on the NavMap, and go all of the way in, and then hit it one more time to fully zoomed-out, that the NavMap will center on 0x0 Longitude / Latitude, and be over Africa at the Equator / Meridian juntion. Does not appear to do any harm in that situation, though it does look like bad data in the Save folder...

To Jeff-Groves: It is like a big puzzle, you think you are done, but there is always one piece left over. To Mister_M: You are correct. That is one reason i like Sh3. A Free Campaign. But i also like to have both tasks done in color green. To Mad Mardigan: I can't remember that i ever got a "0" area, but i'm not playing other Mods. "Main gist is... it can & does occur." That is how the Universe works. Greetings. |
