SSD or HDD?
I'm in the middle of getting a new PC and it will bring a SSD and a HDD (both 1TB). The SSD will have the OS and programs, etc.
The OS will be Windows 10 pro and my dough is were should I install SH3 and 4 (I ask only here, for not having a double thread). I know the "no program files" folder rule. |
Hi Rodes my LSH2020 GWX and GWXoneAlex is installed in a Games Folder on Drive C:/(my SSD where my Windows 10 Pro installed) i only intend to fill my 1TB SSD 70% full my 2TB hd drive i use for other games and drawing programs.
The SSD drive is very fast 4400 mbps read 4000 mbps write ther are faster ones but compaed to a Hd its very goodimprovemen If you have a 8Gig USB stick if not get one so you can make a windows media creation tool so if your pc hd gets corupted you reinstall windows my rig specification https://www.subsim.com/radioroom/sho...89&postcount=1 best get a case with good airflow thats a must |

@blackswan40, I will post mine in the thread that I ask about new rigs. I still getting a few pieces.:03: |
I have a SAMSUNG SSD 860 EVO and the loading times are practically the same compared to an HDD (Seagate 7200 rpm).

For me SSD did made a difference in loading times.

If the game needs to load many small files, then SSD is the better place. I too remember much shorted loading times with SSD. If you are short on RAM (hardly the case I expect in 64-bit systems thesedays) then SSD is also better to prevent or lessen virtual memory swapping.

Both, Both are good generally people use SSD for games and the HDD for files, documents, books, movies, pictures and stuff

Older HDD's gave me poor load times in Silent Hunter 3 campaign mode, but probably because they were absolutely ancient (old pc had drives built in like 1998. :haha:) |
I installed both Silent Hunters on my SSD. The loading times of SH3 are amazing!
My idea was (with the new PC) using SSD for normal use and HDD for backup and storage. The new PC specs is in the thread about it |
