STEAM, GWX and 4 GB patch
 

Hallo guys

Is it possibile to install the GWX and the 4gb patch with the steam version of SH3?
Is a difficult process? There is some guide to do it?

Hi MDL ive sent you a PM with a download link for a stock SHIII download you will need 7zip to unpack it then just place the SH3 Folder outside Program Files X86 so windows protection dose'nt cause you any problems
installing SH3 make a Games folder on C:/ then place the SHIII install Folder inside the Games Folder.
Then run SHIII play a single mission like happy time it creates a SH3 Folder in your documents for all your career saves.
Installing GWX all 7 bins an the Commander mod Config so GWX and the Commander Mod talk to each other and also the 4Gig Patch

i will try this one because the game work fine (i have done the tutorial and one mission) but the carreer keeping crashing at the start...

P.P.S.
i changed the name of the player and some difficulty settings and now the game works good! :D

i want to play with maximum realism (except for the esternal view and the contact on the map)... time to learn how to play! :D

I'm having the same issue, i've tried using the 4gb patch on the steam folder, but no joy.....what's going on here?

Steam probably repaired the change made by the 4GB patch by overwriting the executable.

That is to say. It is just a RAR archive with a executable file to patch the SH3 executable. If you never executed that patch file then nothing ever happens to SH3. But if you did, and either you ordered Steam to verify the install, or Steam did that because of some random update (there shouldn't be any as the game is not developed anymore), then the change will be reverted.
