Multiplayer Dedicated Server
 

Hi,

All this messing around with tunngle/hamachi/insert_VPN_Name is a pain when trying to find multiplayer games, never mind actually finding any casual MP players.

If you had a spare server (I have one) would it be possible to make a patch so that the lan option or even the UBI option pointed to that server instead? And what would the server need to be able to do?

Use Radmin VPN.

Create your own Gaming network or join an existing gaming network ... e.g. SilentHunter III.
So you can then play in Lan.


Here is another script to turn off Radmin.


1: Only the GUI is still active, network adapter and service off.

This does not solve the problem, this is just another VPN solution.

At the moment no one wanting to play MP can find each other because there are so many "solutions"

What I would like is more like a server that's just built into SH3. Perhaps with some backend to find servers etc, there used to be a thriving community playing SH3 MP and I know it would never be as strong after 17 years but I see loads of people in the forums so there is still interest.

Even if there would be, first of all you need players.
You need to find each other.
We successfully use Radmin.
It's easy to use, doesn't go as deep into the system as Hamachi, and you can easily turn it off via the script.
But the problem is to find the teammates and then to arrange them, because the MP missions are not exactly quickly completed, so they are very time-consuming.
There will be some willing MP players here in SubSim who can be brought together in a Radmin gaming network, so that you can meet for a good convoy battle.
