A high value asset being operated within range of potentially hostile fighters, and no friendly cover for the air refueling procedure in sight (assuming there were not more French fighters outside the camera's angle: if so, they should have mobbed the Russians away and not even have let the come this close. Tankers are precious).

I have no sympathy for this kind of symbolic posing. Symbolism does not shoot. Fighters do.
