Need help patching vanilla SH-3
 

I downloaded the Steam version of SH-3 because I heard it runs well even on a modern machine.



The patch situation is a little confusing because most people expect me to mod the game and I don't really want any mods like Grey Wolves.



I just want to patch the vanilla game to higher resolution because it looks clunky and distorted on a modern monitor.


Plus whatever patches I need to address bugs.


I played the original when it was first released and it was terrific even straight out of the box and I never felt compelled to mod it to a completely different experience.


Any suggestions greatly appreciated.

you have a PM Sir with the SH3 download link the download is not a patch its the full SH3 Install in a SH3 Folder after you unpack it with 7zip ok

SH3 is now classed as abandonware by Ubisoft
The SH3 Download link from my mediafire acount is a installed and zipped version of SH3 from the dvd below
its already patched to 1.4

Thanks but that doesn't answer my question. I already have a Silent Hunter III copy. It's the Steam version so it works well.

the steam version should be already patched also

I got the game to run well and it looks good. I'm only having the accidental torpedo launch problem. When trying to use the periscope the mouse cursor defaults to the torpedo launch button so as soon as I click the mouse, I get an accidental torpedo launch.

try downloading the SH3 link i sent you i never have any accidental Topedo launches in Stock SH3 GWX or LSH2020

I tried the version of the game from your link. This looks like the original executable and it looks like the vanilla game. Is there any way to increase the resolution to 1920 x 1080? I think when you stretch the resolution beyond the default, that's why you get unpredictable cursor behavior, resulting in the clicking of the fire button!

Your PC does it have dedicated Graphics if so set your resoultion through your GPU not through your Desktop settings

Thanks for all the feedback, I've fixed the problem by using the workaround that disables the red launch button. Torpedoes are now launched by pressing the Enter key. This is the preferred method to launch anyway. I'm ready to start my patrol.
