Mystery Case

I was at the dump the other day and found this case. I cleaned it up with some shoe polish, it is really well made. What I can't figure out is what it was used for. I was thinking a trumpet or other musical instrument but it's not really deep enough. Any ideas?

I also tried my friends Thompson SMG but no joy! :)

Possible a weapons case?

That seems to be the most likely use for it. One of my friends says its for a:

Straight grip mid sized bore juxtaposed scattergun
possibly Belgium. Probably English.. heavy engraved from the depression in the cloth
Holland and Holland, possibly Purdey, but really Woodward James and sons, due to the geometry
You'll need to send it to me for further study

I'm thinking for knives.

I have a much smaller "elegant case" ... :haha: but for draftsman's tools. I don't use them; it's a display item in my living room. Lucky find.

A thought

What if this suitcase has been in the hand of Al Capone or some other famous mafia leader.

Who knows, but when I picked it up I didn't get the same evil vibe that I got from standing at the Nurenburg Stadium podium where hitler gave his speeches, but maybe it was just too faint by comparison. :03:

After all Capones body count hardly compares!

I'm pretty sure it's a juxtaposed scattergun case with the cleaning kit on the top:)

It looks to be some type of case for a weapon of sorts. It there any markings on the case at all?

I would assume the big case up top would hold cleaning equipment and the other cases would hold bullets/clips etc.

Just a guess of course. :Kaleun_Cheers:

I'm sending it off to a gunsmith buddy of mine. He said he'd find something to fit it.

hard to tell by the pic but don't look deep enough to hold a weapon probbly long enough too hold a saw off looks just a little bit higher than the lighter

Mine looks fairly old like 50-75 years old. I'd love to get both of them side by side to compare quality.
