Trawler detection capabilities

Anyone have a handle on this? Are they capable of passive sound detection and crew lookouts only? I've been assuming they don't have sonar capability.
Thanks..

Depending on mega mod they can hear you very well given the sea state and other factors. I personally like NYGM for this. Very deadly!

Thanks for the input bstanko6; I was thinking along the lines of what their detection capabilities are in an install without mods..
Along with their crew lookouts for visual sightings, do they also have passive sound detection?
Are they ever equipped with sonar capability?
By the way, bstanko6, I went to your YouTube site and , along the way, discovered where to aim torps when using magnetic detonators. Thanks for that!

I just did a little research & found that some, if not all, British trawlers were in fact fitted with ASDIC (sonar).
My confusion arose by noticing that the depiction of trawlers on the navigation map does not include the dotted half circle directly in front of them that destroyers have, which, I assumed, showed the detection range of their sonar.

Still not sure whether active sonar on trawlers is implemented in the game, but I suppose I can find out by saving first & then making a lot of noise while submerged & near one of them..

Atleast in GWX in early war . The trawlers only had passive detection(but it is very good)

A look into their .eqp files will provide the answer you're looking for.
