How to change submarine availability?
I've downloaded a mod that adds a new USS Tench, (https://www.subsim.com/radioroom/sho...d.php?t=230896) and I want to be able to play it earlier on, in maybe the 1941 or 42 campaign. Do any of you happen to know how to do this? Help would be appreciated. Thank you

:Kaleun_Wink:https://www.subsim.com/radioroom/sho...d.php?t=249391 When you download any mods or file ... you make an effort to read the forum to figure out how to get it to work ... the people here are "breaking the nuts" and writing loads of stuff for you. . the world of things is to read them in order to avoid always asking the same thing ... if you don't understand a few things people here can help you but reading does not kill..you will better believe me you will sleep better I give you the info .. for your problem but I shouldn't because you haven't begged the time to read :yep:.. well I'm in a good day today so ..:timeout: you can get the class tench in mission mod but that is not recommend ... go greeting ..:Kaleun_Salute: |

you will need to ensure that every piece of equipment, weapon, ammo, etc that is assigned to the Tench (or to a piece of equipment on the Tench) is also available when the Tench becomes available. this is a daunting task, however if you want to do it, i wish you good luck. :Kaleun_Salute: |

Be aware as others have stated you won't have 1945 tech on your boat and will have to add whatever flak guns, radar, deck gun, and torpedoes are available at that time. |

Edit to add better explanation after reading Bubbleheads post: IDLinkUserPlayerUnits= F1Porpoise, 4 Yellow highlight references Flotillas.upc. Each boat will have its own [Flotilla X.UserPlayerUnitType X] entry. F for Flotilla number, Pearl for example is Flotilla 1. Red highlight also references Flotillas.upc under its appropriate entry for UnitTypeCommonality=. This has a number associated with it and the note in the file states "to be used when a random choice is assigned." That could have something to do with what boat you get offered, but I haven't tested this aspect. |

I believe they are Flotilla numbers (Flotilla 1 is Sub Pac) and are linked to the boats available at different commands on different time periods etc. Fremantle is F2 I believe. Also believe they are linked to the orders player receives based on flotilla and type of submarine. I.E. prevents player based in Fremantle (F2, I think it is) being assigned to patrol off Honshu and vice versa. Only thing is in TMO I have restored (mostly) the function to start a patrol in say Pearl Harbor , patrol en route, and complete patrol at Fremantle. This was often done when boats were switching commands. Used to be standard in the game and was changed for some reason and now have the very gamey instant transfer which I honestly..dislike. Adds a lot to sail from Pearl, patrol South China sea, etc then end in Australia. Same if do a new construction career. After sea trials, instead of magical transfer to Pearl, you sail from San Francisco. May run across an IJN submarine if in early war or an anxious "Friendly" patrol plane that bombs you, or anxious escort mistaking you for a japanese submarine. Trying to restore the Balao seas trials as well, not sure why they were eliminated. |
