Firefox/google doesn't run on XP
This is a disaster for me, my old XP will not run firefox, the google tab just sits there spinning, below status bar shows "waiting for www.google.com.au".
The internet connection is ok I still get my emails ok, can't even close it only through task manager. I don't want to loose all my bookmarks, any help appreciated. :yep: |
Can't install another browser and import your bookmarks?
|
Hello Reece. Mozilla apparently ended support for XP. Even so, I have a website that lists Mozilla and 4 other browsers that will work with Windows XP. I hope this helps.
1. UC Browser2. Baidu Spark Browser 3. Epic Privacy browser 4. K-meleon 5. Mozilla Firefox https://appuals.com/the-5-best-browsers-for-windows-xp/ Good luck, Reece. |
Thanks guys, the problem is since I can't get on the web I can't download anything. I will have to check on my wife's machine (using that now) to see if I can download an installer to copy to usb stick and run on mine. :hmmm:
Update: I pulled the plug on the computer so as not to save any updates and rebooted but still the same!! Now instead of shutting down via task manager I tried right clicking on the firefox tab on the toolbar to close it, as soon as I right clicked on the tab the spinning "G" stopped and now it all works, crazy!! I hope it is ok now and not that it does the same on restarting, for now I'm going to make the most of it!!! |
If you want Reece, I can download them and send them to you. This way, you will have it / them.
Let me know. :) |
For downloading another browser you could still use the original Windows XP Internet Explorer?
It is slow and warnings may pop up, but it should still work. Edit just read it works now, hope it keeps working :) |
Seems that Google is the problem, I changed the Home Page to Subsim and starts perfectly, from there I can go to Google with no problems. :yep:
I tried going back and Google fails on Home Page start, crazy but who really cares, so I start with Subsim!! :D |
Put Google back as my home page and all working properly again, they must have been working on something!! :Kaleun_Applaud:
