Day and Night switched in Stock UBoat missions

Ahoy,

I am playing the stock UBoat missions from Steam. With all the saving and loading, the simulation got to a point in that during the day its dark, and during the night there is daylight.

Anyone know how to fix this ?~

Thanks
Regards

You can't really fix it now, if it's something "broken". Only avoid it in the future. The game uses old DirectX v9.0c "library" calls for its "clock", and bases its clock frequency off the video card. The old "gold" standard everybody wanted back in 2007 was 30fps at 1024x768 pixels, so the game is based on that. Your computer probably runs the game at quite a bit more fps than that. Most video card makers do have some settings in their interfaces that can help somewhat with that. You can use either their utility to see how many fps you are getting, or use the <Ctrl><F8> combo keypress to have the game display it for you at the top of the screen. This difference is generally not noticeable to most people.

There are also issues caused by some users, when they swap out to the Windows desktop to do something, whether purposeful, or from Windows doing it for them. The game being an old DirectX v9.0c game, does not understand 'modern' Windows and multi-tasking and virtual technologies. It expects the audio stream to always be where it left it. Same with the video stream. So if you shell-out one way or another, the game sometimes loses track of where it is. So try not to shell out to Windows. The use of two monitors, and setting the game to a Windowed resolution does help alleviate the issue, but not completely apparently, from some tests we did with FotRSU - definitely better though, if you do NOT shell out to the Windows desktop while the game is running. Again though, most users won't notice clock issues as much as they would some graphics anomalies.

Then there is the matter of "bad data", whether from a mod you are using, or a combination of mods you are using, or just the shelling out causing bad data. No matter how it gets there, one of the first things to go is the "clock". In all of the above, you can sometimes get back to "normal" by Saving the game. Exiting completely. Re-starting the game, and then Load the Save and continue. Again though, graphics anomalies are generally predominant here also.

Lastly, if you are starting at Pearl Harbor at 0730 in the morning of December 10, 1941, you must remember that it is 235pm on the 11th in Tokyo (if I did my math correctly). The game runs your boat on "base" time - or at least, it tries to. So your boat might be on Pearl time, but local time is almost a half cycle off... and a day early... The further you travel away from you base longitudinally, the more time zones you cross. :salute:
