Another possible dumb question

Playin a campiagn with the FotRSU Mod i recognised that my sonar operator ist shouting out contacs while beeing surfaced.
Is that realistic, is it a bug? I am a little confused here!?

The "efficiency" of sonar on the surface was reduced for v1.39. It was turned down, but we didn't want to go too far with it, because then it adversely affects the normal operation when underwater. Also, while on the surface, only one sensor at a time can be active in the game - a game engine restriction. So if your radar is on, it will take over all long-distance contacts, or if your get within visual range, that will take the forefront in notifications. The "visual contacts" are a one-time vocal report, so if your look-outs report "Ship spotted! Bearing 16 degrees, medium range, moving away!", that's it. If it stays within visual range, there will be no further messages from the watch crew. What would be nice to have in the game is "Ship has changed course, now bearing 24 degrees, medium range and closing fast!" Alas, the game does not do that for you. Usually, if you don't stay on top of the contact, the next vocal report you get is "We're taking damage sir! We're under attack sir! Forward torpedo room flooding sir We have heavy damage sir! Medic!!!" blub blub blub... :arrgh!:
