Original Das Boot Model Photos-1981
Stumbled on a fascinating site with images of almost all the ship models used in "Das Boot" - the submarine (of course), the destroyer they try to sink, the tanker, and the ships in Vigo harbor.
http://www.modelshipsinthecinema.com...boot-1981.html Interesting trivia as well - I never knew they used Ken/Barbie dolls for some of the distant shots! :) Being a merchant obsessed guy I of course loved the shots of the tanker model, but there's a lot more; take a look. |
What a great resource and plenty other theme related movies on there as well
Bookmarked and thanks for sharing :salute: |

Great find! There really is something special about movie miniatures. Not only are they great works of craftmanship and ingenuity (check sometime how some of the spaceships in the original ALIEN were made for example*), but they also withstand the test of time way better than CGI in most cases.
*Here's an awesome documentary series of ALIEN on Dennis Lowe's site, much of it is about props and effects. :salute: http://www.zen171398.zen.co.uk/Alien.html |

From a time where CGI was an unknown thing. Markus |
