Allied HF/DF (Huff Duff)

One of the main ways escorts located u-boats *especially* when shadowing a convoy was via this and it only took one message to do so. It was routine procedure for an escort(s) to hf/df a nearby u-boat and then run down it's bearing including early war. I.e., the same sub sending message after message for hours on end as can be done via H.sies's patch about a convoys course, etc. was a rare event. This is not a knock on his excellent work in any way. Best that can be done via SH3.
Unfortunately allied hf/df too is not simulated in SH3 at least not near enough. AOD handled it well. To replicate this I've been using LGN1's excellent "Submarine Tracking Room" mod found here for awhile.
I've than changed the line "Probability for NOT being detected when sending a radio message" in the mods .ini file from its default 0.8 so that any time I send a message there is a much greater chance of it being hf/dfed.
Makes the game much more "realistic" and interesting especially after 7/41 when because they started getting suspicious, the Germans issued orders limiting radio traffic.
Highly recommend the mod if interested.

John,

Isn't something like this already in NYGM? I thought it was. I know I have encountered something like this before in NYGM or something close to it.

I have this down loaded already back in 2019 but never did anything with it. I would try it out with other SH3 installs if it can be worked in without upsetting the apple cart. Completely forgot about this till now.:hmmm: More stuff to fool around with. I'll never get back to playing careers.:haha:

Good hunting,
FUBAR295

Not that I know of (NYGM) but could be wrong. I've never noticed it playing as being simulated anyway.
