Error when starting SHIII + GWX 3.0

I decided to try a fresh install of SH3:
I formatted "F" drive
I installed SH3 from the Ubisoft DVD
I updated to SH3 1.4 with "silent_hunter_3_dvd_1.4b_us.exe"
I installed GWX 3.0
I ran a 4gb patch

I get the following error when trying to launch:

Everything seemed to go fine up to this point.
Any ideas?

That is the star force protection error message. You need to google for the star force free SH3 files.
Install those and you're set.

Very strange as I had SH3 running as of Wednesday but wanted to clean things up. Doesn't the old Starforce protection just require the disc to be inserted for SH3 to run? I was running without the disc until this new install...very weird.
