Table Tennis in VR and RL

I am a big fan of Eleven, and play it regularly since three years. With the massive changes made to the arenas and the pyhsics, this simualtion know ranks amongst the very best and most realistic simulations of its object that I ever saw on PC. This is as if you are playing real Table Tennis, really.

Just pay careful attention to setting up your paddle correctly, the virtual one needs to be a copy of how you would hold your reald paddle with your. Mess up this setting, and you will not stop scratching your head. Get it perfectly right, and you will likely not feel and realise any difference between VR and RL.

Perfect VR title, and a must have for VR.

I played one game before where the playing on PC increased my skill level which then indeed also so transition to a climb in my real playing skill, and that was and still is Vritual Pool 4, which I aloso still play, in 2D. To have a pool sim in VR (stereoscopic 3D, not just 2D on a big movie screen) that is played with mouse like VP4 - that would be awesome! The pool module in Sports Bar VR allows some fun in playing around, but since it is handled with virtual controllers you lack the precision that you are allowed by the way VP4 allows players to play. Its nice to fool around a bit, but is no serious pool sim.

Here is a multiplayer meeting between two pro players who in real life play tournament-level table tennis in 2nd divisions of their national leagues in Spain and Poland.

That many real life players use this sim for training, and engage in MP as well, shows what quality the physics are of, and what the sim is capable of. I know I repeat myself, but Eleven without doubt is one of the very best and most realistic simulators that I have ever seen in action.

Manual for the ball machine. Its very diverse in functionality, but not as self-explanatory as one would desire (me at least), so a manual may help.

https://eleven-vr.fandom.com/wiki/Ball_Machine

From that manual, also this description of the AI. The AI is an ongoing project and step by step gets added additional capabilities and options, its physics as well. But already now it is very convincing, for the occasional player who does not play on organsied club sport level it is hard to see, if at all, where the physics suite currently still is lacking. So, while it still gets improved in regular intervals, it already is very, very good.

The AI plays relatively flat shots generally, with only a little topspin in most rallies. The current AI will not hit topspin against backspin, either similarly hitting backspin in return or, if the shot is very high, a smash. The AI has been known to hit extreme backspin shots against very powerful drives and loops, though this is not intended behaviour. The AI as currently implemented struggles with high lobs and serves also, even on reduce mistakes mode.
An unusual note about the current AI is that there is currently no difference between its forehand and backhand shots. It is as if it is an ambidextrous player which smoothly swaps hands and always hits a forehand.
