SH III "Can not initialize 3D engine"

SH III steam,
when i try to start the game i get this message;
"Can not initialize 3D engine"

I've already downloaded it twice with the same result.
any answers? ideas? clues?

Hi joes1945 have your Gpu set your display seting not your desktop display
do it through the envidia control panel or amd's equivalent
