1.4 update Flotilla cfg error
 

Hello Gents,
I am trying to install the 1.4 update (as stated on the Grey wolf's site) prior to installing the mod from GWX for SH3.
However I keep getting an error namely "unable to install as unknown Flotilla cfg".
I have tried installing from a clean install of SH3,
I have deleted the cfg file but still get the same error message.

I have tried both the EU and US DVD 1.4 versions (as cannot remember where I bought the original), both come up with the same message.

I have windows 10 loads of memory and hard disk space, and trying to install the program in the windows program x86 folder, basic install of SH3 had no problems. - please assist

If you have stupidly deleted somthing out of SH3, a reinstall is needed.

But I don't think it applies to my problem, my version is at 1.001 -
that was one of the first things I checked - I have not received any of the messages you have indicated, error only appears when trying to install the 1.4 patch.

If I read from the Greywolf website (old I know) correctly it states I have to be at version 1.4 before installing their mod, which having played ages ago I really liked.

What you first checked is missing in 1st post!

If your Flotilla.cfg is not original, or changed somehow, the Error-Message from the SH3-Update-program will be:


Silent Hunter III EMEA DVD v1.0 to v1.3 Update Program
----------------------------------------------
This program cannot update the installed version of Silent Hunter III EMEA
DVD v1.0 to v1.3 because of the following reason:

[Drive:\Path\Filename.ext]: unknown version.
----------------------------------------------


Once again, there are exactly four (4) Update-programs for SH3 from UBISOFT. Only one of them will work for one apecific Installment of SH3. This is usually a version before the v1.4.

Anyway, if none of these 4 Updates will work, you may have a not supported version, maybe a somhow patched/changed version. There is no reason to believe this Update-Message is wrong.
Uninstall and Re-install of SH3 may help.

The first halve part does not apply to you, or do you have patched your SH3 with the h.sie-Tool?

And yes, GWX v3.0 will need the SH3 to be patched to v1.4 before installation.

Hi Everyone again, so Still having the same problem.
I deleted all installed files I could find with SH3 both automatically and manually.
I reinstalled the main game via the dvd.
I have tried to start from the beginning by installing the patch 1.1 but still had the same error message of Flortilla.cfg File not known so won't let me progress

Do I need to ensure the short curt is compatible or have the DVD in whilst updating?
Help please
