Crash to desktop with GW and Ahnerbe GUI mod
Hey all!
I'm trying to mod Silent Hunter 3 for the first time and all I want is greywolves and Anherbe GUI. Only problem is, after installing everything on a clean SH3 install and booting into my campaign, when I go to load into my 3d world with Anherbe and GW enabled (Via SH3Commander) it crashed to desktop. Can the good people of subsim help me out? Or maybe give me a "How to mod SH3 for dummies"? Steps already taken: Uninstalled and cleaned registry and reinstalled Running JSGME, SH3, and SH3 commander as admin in Win7 compatibility mode. https://i.imgur.com/klMlkBv.png |
And the 4GB patch? Highly recommended to avoid CTD’s

May have missed that one...do you have a link handy? |
AFAIK, 4GB patch is built-in to GWX 3.0 Gold, isn´t it?

Don’t know, but a google search for SH3 4GB patch will do it
Or maybe in the download section of forum  |

Download and information how to in subsim.com: https://www.subsim.com/radioroom/dow...o=file&id=3634 It's not a SH3 specific thing though. Many other programs may benefit from it. (No garuntees though, ask the software developer about it) |
Thanks guys! This was indeed the fix I was looking for.
For anyone who comes across this thread, download the Large Address Awareness program above and target the SH3 executable. This fixes the issue. Just one more question from me: How do I get the chronometer to count (as shown in the screenshot below)? Thanks all for the help!https://i.imgur.com/vycDPI9.png |
Can’t believe the 4GB patch is not in the download utilities section of forum!
(Not LAA, but 4GB patch) |

I still can not get ARB WideGUI to cooperate with S3H-H.sie-Patch-V16B1 (this patches the sh3 executable for 4GB)
I get "Can not initialize 3D engine" error message. Otherwise I have only GWX. Any advice? |
Welcome aboard!
