Hi,

I'm completely new to subsims, in fact the only game I've even played with submarines in it is Atlantic Fleet. But I grew up just a few minutes away from U-505 and I've always wanted to take a Type IXC for a spin.

Recently I've been binge-watching a playthrough of Silent Hunter 3 and I want to try it for myself, but I heard it's practically impossible to get working on Windows 10 and a google search really leads me nowhere. I'd like to know how to get it working before I try so I don't waste my money.

Does Silent Hunter 4 with the Dark Waters mod also have difficulty on Windows 10 or is it easier, because I might also just do that instead.

EDIT: I ended buying SH3 on Steam and so far the tutorial is working, to my surprise...we'll have to see how the campaign goes though.

There must literally be hundreds or perhaps even thousands who have SH3 for W10 working without any problem (myself being one of them).

Is there a guide on how to set controls? I hate the super high sensitivity of aiming, and I don't like that it has to be done with arrow keys (I find myself constantly accidentally going for WASD and going into a dive!) and I've seen people saying you can use mouse aim but how do I enable that?

Welcome. No problems with Windows 10 afaik. You can opt for simplified aiming in-game using a single keyboard command to 'lock' onto the target once you've set yourself up in a reasonable attacking position
