Mouse Jumping Workaround?
Greetings,
I am back to SH3 after a long break. I have installed GWX, Ahnenerbes WideGui and a couple of other mods and I have to say: SH3 looks better than ever. I prefer this to SH5 (and UBOAT) any day! Thanks to all modders for the incredible work over the years! BUT: Something that annoyed me quite a bit back in the day and now again is the fact that the game is pulling the mouse pointer away under my hands. Now with the WideGui this is even worse, because the location where the pointer jumps to does not make any sense whatsoever... Are there any fixes? I payed around with a solution with AutoHotKey, but that was not working out to be good enough... :-( |

At least my SH3 does not do this. My mouse pointer is always under my control. If this would be not the case, i would first blame the Operating System for this nonsense. There may be an option that jumps the pointer to the next useful button. This can be de-activated somewhere in the deep Win-Options. The couse of this jumping can also be a defective Mouse (Hard-/Software). If this is anyhow related to an unwanted click on the Fire-butten - there is an fix for. As i do not use a wide-screen i cannot tell where ist is. Greetings. |
I've never had this problem.
can only imagine it's got to be damned annoying. do you use a wireless mouse. I use one and sometimes it can lose signal, doesn't jump per say but kinda hangs... Have to agree with Hebe Vollmaus, sounds like operating system. OWw! maybe check drivers, I know that's crazy but now days my mouse is almost as complicated as my phone....making all our lives "easier" |
Well, I think I was not clear enough. Surely SH3 "does this" (NOT Windows, not a defective mouse(driver) or anything). It IS SH3, noone else. It can not be switched off by a windows option (which is surely switched off in my system from the first second I encountered it)... and why would SH3 care about this window setting anyway? If you click on "Beenden" (Exit), the mousepointer is moved to the position of the ok button of that dialog. The same happens with all the other dialogs of that category.
Now, with the widegui enabled, the position of that button not under the mouse after SH3 moving it away, it is somewhere on the screen. I do not like this behaviour and would love to switch it off. Windows has a similar "feature", where the mouse jumps to the ok button of a message box that pops up. Annoying as hell. |

I have seen this. My problem is not that the button jumps to the fire button... my problem is that it jumps at all. But thanks for the link anyway.

Try this:
- go to device manager - uninstall mouse driver - restart windows |
??? It is not the mouse driver. This is SH3 behaviour.

Try it.
Or decrease pointer acceleration and/or deactivate it. https://www.bilder-upload.eu/bild-e5...37234.png.htmlhttps://www.bilder-upload.eu/thumb/4...1590837589.jpghttps://www.bilder-upload.eu/bild-4b...37589.jpg.htmlhttps://www.upload.ee/thumb/11793971...hleunigung.jpg https://www.bilder-upload.eu/thumb/e...1590837234.png |
I feel that a misunderstanding here. It is clearly the case that SH3 is positioning the mouse to (always the same!) coordinates if a confirmation dialog is shown. This is hardcoded into sh3.exe, there is NO WAY that it is related to a mouse driver or a windows setting.
You can see this behaviour in any SH3 video on youtube. I just found one for you: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=0lEh...6OkfPkHyvKgtwi look what the mousepointer does at clock 5:25. The mouse clicks on "VIIB" and then the mouse immediatly jumps to "Nein" in the following dialog. There is no way on earth this has anything to do with my mousedriver. Seriously! |
