Destroyer Stalker
 

On the last two patrols, after attacks I picked up a destroyer that follows me everywhere like a pet dog but not as much fun and I have to return to port regardless of fish remaining.

If I try to attack he moves away. I cannot fast travel more than 64 and it took me many real life hours to get to France from the Americas.

Outside Port a friendly put paid to him and I entered harbour.

Is there a way to stop this please?

This is a known "sticky destroyer" bug. Try saving and reloading game (on a different save game of course, not overwriting), this was reported to help. Other than that, inserting a torpedo into DD's engine room should also solve this issue.

Haha, I love the solution but this is not possible in this case since the Stalker Destroyer will always maintain the same distance from your boat, until the save/reload which will always unstuck it's AI...:yep: Sometimes , appearance of the third unit in the area may unstuck it as well, but this is rarely the case...

Thanks for the advice guys. It was a long trek from the Americas at 64 tc but at night I could go at 1028 which helped. I was frightened to save and exit as I had a good score on the patrol and was frightened I would not recover the save.

It was great to see my tormentor get blown to bits by a couple of escorts when I reached home port.
