Submarine Nets

Well thats new. Wondering why my torpedos kept missing about halfway to the target.
So I cheated and ran the camera underwater and sure enough they were there. Damn.

yep. nets can and will get in the way of torpedos and submarines.
if you run into a subnet, it will cause damage.

Oh I ran into one already and it chewed up and destroyed my screws.

There are two located in Rabaul, on the island of New Britain.
They are at the narrow end of the harbor inlet about 5000 yards from the harbor and offer only a very small and narrow entrance.

In Feb 1944 there are two Jap Carriers in the harbor behind the nets. Tasty targets I found unable to hit due to the nets.

The harbor is patrols by 5 destroyers as well, which explanis why one destroyer was stationary yet had full reverse blasting. He was caught on the net. That was an easy torpedo hit.

Anyway to get to the harbor you need to draw the destroyers away. I tried just a sneak up, since its a deep harbor until a certain point but they found me every time. So I decided, I'll shoot a few torpedos at one. I didnt care if I hit it, I wanted them to see it. That would draw them away in my direction. I would beat it out of there quickly under the thermal layer around an island and come up way south of them, while they searched for a sub thats not in that vicinity, giving me plenty of time to navigate as I chose the harbor.

Cool stuff.
