Heat currently breakes records over here in Europe. In Germany, the all time record has been broken two days ago with a temp of 40.5°C measured in Geilenkirchen, Northrhine-Westphalia.In my place and in the sun, it gets much hotter already. Paris today reports 40.6°C. Practically all German forests are at high risk of getting seriously damaged, due to the heat last year, low ground water lewvels not replrenished since then, dryness, and the heat wave now all stressing trees and thretaneing to wipe out whole forests. Spruces and beeches are at risk of dissapering form germany, forest rangers say, they are seriously weakned and cannot resit additonal bug plagues we have here. Farmers again will suffer huge losses this year. Riversd are already low, we had first areas in Germany where drinking water was rationed and the waste a punishable offence.

Myself, I live in a darkened cave during the day. Heat is tough to bear. Power grid has become unstable, so has internet links. Micro blackouts of the first and longer breakdowns of the latter has become daily norm over here. This is Germany, Münster, district capital with 370 thousand people, anno domini 2019. The more power gets produced by the sun and wind, the more expensive it gets for the consumer while the prices drop at the central energy market at the same time. German ways and German logic, again 2019 a.d. :up:

I took over a habit of the mediterranean people: siesta from 12 am to 15 pm.


I read that if mankind would perish over night, tempertures in big cities would immediately drop by 3-4 degrees: human bodies in masses produces such ammount of warmth indeed. That launches some queer thoughts in mm mind.

The first nuclear powerplant, Grohnde (Lower Saxony), was shut down. The river Weser that provides the cooling water, is too warm.

They expect temperatures in Bonn up to 42°C, maybe even 43°C. The German railway has started to offer refunds for tickets of travellers choosing to not do the voyage they bought tickets for. National as well as regional trains in the past three days already have broken down due to the engines breaking down from heat damage. A regional railtrack over here at Münster currently is shut down due to a train lying still on it. 200 m away from where I live, a major waterlline blew up on Monday, flushing away the mainstreet'S underground basis that in form of a ring is THE major traffic line around the city centre. The street is shut down and will remain closed until next Monday.

You sure Germany hasn't suddenly become a third world country Sky? :)

The jetsream is slow this year and so any weather, cold or hot, dry or wet, stays longer in one place before it has moved away again. Germany currently gets a Sahara blaze via Spain, France.

the national temperature record from yesterday already has been broken just these minutes: Bonn-Rohde reports 40.6°C, climbing.

The thermometer sensor on my loggia has broken down, I just found out, the digital memory of the central weather station last logged 47.7 °C (the loggia gets the full sun treatment from 11 am on, until sunset) . The sensor was located in a small corner of shadow, evading direct sunlight, but still the area heats up incredibly.

Thing was over ten years old, I doubt I get just a sensor for it anymore. :arrgh!:

Lingen an der Ems: 41.5 °C.

They have a nuclear powerplant there as well, I was there eight weeks ago during my 170km bicycle tour. The powerplant gets cooled from an artificial water reservoir build beside the nearby Dortmund-Ems-Channel, the biggest of its kind in whole Eurpope, a little ocean. :) Last year, pedestrians told me, it already was dried down to less than half of its content, and since the basis is all concrete, it must heat up quickly as well. Possible that Lingen gets switched off as well.

I just heard in the TV the jetstreams have changed following a trend of the last five years, and will not "switch back" or whatever you would call that.
Major Problem i see is the russian permafrost soils are beginning to thaw. If this is true will really be in trouble. :hmmm:

Here in Central Finland temperatures have not gone so extreme: only +29 this week and forecasted upto +32. We also have good fresh water reserves in our lakes, but at some locations ground water is depleting. In my parent's place this is big problem as last year was extremely dry (only three days of limited precipitation from early May to late August) and this spring snow melted so rapidly that most of the water went to rivers and lakes instead of absorbing into ground.


I usually prefer dry weather but this time I'm hoping for really wet autumn.

The thawing of the Canadian permafrost region is 70 years ahead of the projected timetable, they recently found. There and in Russia, immense volumes of methan gets released which is 23 times as potent as CO2. In certain regions of the deep ocean floors, there is more frozen methan hydrate that likely has started to unfreeze as well. THIS is our real problem, not this silly war on CO2, that is children'S play, and ideology war.

Thank God we now have the Fridays For Future movement making our future safe again. Its a revolución. :88) And so romantic.

It was a lovely day here in New England. In fact except for a couple of weekend "scorchas" and powerful thunderstorms it's been a very nice summer so far.

Hmm, let's not forget it is indeed CO2 that lead to a global warming of some extent that may take us into the next methane spiral. Whether CO2 generation is primarily man made, or if it can even be reversed, is still being researched and debated. To stand on a soap box and tell the world there's nothing to worry about is a bit dumb though. Yeah i know America first, Russia first, England first, all else first and fk the rest of the world :haha:
It really is like a comedy listening to those bigmouths.

I think a good part is indeed man-made, even gigantic volcano eruptions do not come close to what we produce regarding CO2, but..
imho single countries and even political constructs like the EU are not enough. And even those struggle to unite or do something really meaningful, cannot bring themselves to sense. The self-righteous Germany only being one example produces way to much of this stuff while "teaching" the world :haha:

And while i can criticize or even hate the EU because it is all so egoistic and money-driven again, you may know what i think about other countries which do not even waste one thought about the world we all live in.

The ever growing human population strikes again as its been thought ongoing depletion of Eurasian aquifers may have a tremendous effect on the earths already wobbly axis. Which in turn may affect the path of the jet stream bringing in warm air to normally cooler regions. I must however add that we've been enjoying a relatively cooler summer here on the Delmarva Peninsula as well as, so far, an uneventful hurricane season.

CO2 was just an igniter, unleashing a chain reaction that by now runs by itself. The inner dynamics of this process seem to be such that the warming would continue even if from today to tomorrow all CO2 emissions would stop and people and cows would even stop breathing. Nevertheless all ressources get invested into "war against climate chance" and "battling the temperature climb". This money will be missing and these capacity will be depleted when it is about what really counts: ADAPTING to the new world that the climate change all around us is creating right now. This fixiation on preventing CO" emissions is hilariousl even more when considering that ever smaller effects must be bought at ever groiwng amounts of money, that even now treaten the basis of our social existence: the economy and the core comoetences it bases on. At the same time denying naturla market effcts, of course, even ordering to try reversing them.



The CO2 bandwagon beats the drums and everybody focusses on CO2 because it just is another popular mass movement that dictates a rythm to which all and everybody can and are be demanded to march to, like religious sectarianism in earlier time. A collectivistic hyping, a mass happening, like these idiotic Fridays for Future showacts where clueless know-nothigns and kids not yet playing any role in real life can feel as if they are amongst the leaders in the world, so very important, and even school can be capped by one fifth of its weekls hours, super! And our leaders? Rate opportunism over reaosn and treat them as if they where equals on same eye level with academic experts. Its so laughable, a further sign for the degeneration of your civilization.



This is why I am so much of mockery and contempt for this. It is not about war on climate change and preventing temps gong beyond an arbitrarily fixed mark. We cannot do that anymore. We must learn to adapt to the new world that the process will throw us into. THAT is what it is about.


And in this, methan is the by far bigger risk factor, not CO2. I repeat : the agens is 22-23 times as potent in what it does to climate, than CO2, and the reserves frozen in the permafrost area and on some certain grounds of the deep ocean, are immense, frigtheningly so. It is the carbon that was in the amosphere during an age of the planet when almost all life had been killed by the carbon-heavy atmosphere, its temperture, and the ph-level of the oceans. When all now bound methane gets released, we probabaly had back to a lanetary status like in that ancient era.


Instead: CO2! Far less potent, I seem to recall: also smaller quantity, but: its the CO2, stupid!



Stopping cows farming will not make a difference in the greater scheme of things, btw. Thats just actionism of the vegan anti-meat lobby. Another religious crusade that got unleashed. Eat to save the planet. Well, I eat to feed and to enjoy. While i eat, I give a damn about the planet, sorry. (I tried two vegan sausage-surrogates some days ago, btw. Horrible, terrible, disgusting. Ended both in the bin. How can one hope to stay happy and healthy when eating dirt like that??).



A couple of years ago, the volcaono Pinatubo broke out in a huge erruption. Ten years or so. In just 2 weeks, they said back then, it had caused more emissions of climate-killing gas then the whole Western European industrial area in a whole year.
When some weeks ago this Italian volcano, was it thre Vesuv?, broke out, they again compared it to signficant ammounts of the yearly emission of industrial Italy or even the EU region. So, I would be hesitent a bit to dismiss the volcano factor so easily. Volcaons are errupting on the planet practically every hour. Most of them just in areas or in the ocean where we do not need to take note. Mostly the cook on small flame, but when that changes than it is anything but a minor incident, regarding cliate bilance. It makes itself felt.


And we will need to talk about population numbers. Its not popular, and I will be called racist again, but: WE ARE TOO MANY. Globally. Isnot about the birth rates in Europe and the US. its about the birth rates where the demograohic explosion actually takes place: africa, Middle East, South East Asia. As long as the people there for whatever the reason, breed like rabbits and think its fantasic to have as many kids as they often have down there, growing numbers of people statistically, will fall victim to climate change and will fuel it further by just existing. Because climate chnage is not just due to gas and emissions, but also eroding environment, desertification, and more. It all is interlinked. Projections for global population sizes range from 9-13 billion by the end of this century currently. I say: forget climate change and sustainable ressource management with numbers like this! We have no chance with a population behemoth like this. Well, nature will take care of this problem, completely unsentimentally.



The question of whether humans are responsible for all this, in the end is just academic by now. Probably they are, but it is no longer relevant, due to the autonomous inner dynamic of the processes unleashed. ADAPTATION is what is about. Not prevention. Not responsibility questions. Not humanism. ADAPTATION to the new world we are shifting into, whether we like it or not, whether we try to resist ot not. And all time and money and ressources that now is wasted for populistic reasons of "battling the climate change, hooray!!", will be what is in lack at the end of the road. "Schritt für Schritt und Schulter and Schulter mit unseren Ökobrüdern dem grünsozialistischen Fortschrtt entgegen. Kameraden, die Partei sagt euch: reiht euch ein!!" - Ekelhaft. Verdammtes Tyrannenpack.



Thats why I am so pissed by all this climate populstic bull####. The often horrible quality of scientific and empirical methodology to prove this or that point, to acchieve this or that propagandsitic and wanted fearmingering effect, to blackmail this and that money mass redistrubution from industrial nations to have-not nations, are is just the top of the cream.
