Time compression - is there a way to make it behave like SH3?

There is a strange idiosyncrasy using TC in SH5 - if there is an event preventing max TC (e.g. ship in range) it will not let me use the "TC max" command (shift +), or it does, but immediately resets it to 1.

Furthermore, if the event limits the max TC to 64 for example, if I iterate past that, it will immediately reset it back to 1.

In SH3 it is far more intuitive (although granted, there isn't a TC max command by default). If the max TC I can have is 64 the game won't let me go past this value.

Is there a mod I can use for SH5 that replicates this behaviour? At the moment I feel like I am constantly tapping away at TC keys unnecessarily.

You can run into trouble if TC did not kick down like that...

Run into destroyers, planes, miss important radio messages and such.

If you have Wolves of Steel... you can adjust it a bit.

You can do all kind of TC adjustments in main.cfg file and also in the Options File Editor/Viewer. You're free to experiment but be careful not to mess up something. :yep: There are several reasons for such TC settings, including game stability and AI behavior. :yep: Happy tweaking! :salute:

Thanks, sorry I have probably not been clear. I know I can update the TC amounts in main.cfg, but I mean can the way it works actually be changed?

In SH5, if you increase past the permitted amount it just resets to 1, which can be pretty annoying.

If I don't know what my permitted amount is, I have to keep cycling through.

In SH3, it just won't let you go above your permitted amount.

I suspect based on the responses though the answer is going to be a no.

Well, I find if I try to click past a point in TC and it resets me...

it is a great hint that something is close by..get it ;)

Be it land, plane, or ship...

Most likely a fail safe to keep you from CTD......

Just my observation..

I have way more troubles to figure out than how to be a Speed Boat by using
a TC of 1024.. ;P
