Best movie about the Pacific sub warfare?
Which is the best movie about submarine warfare during the Pacific offensive?
|
For all its flaws, Run Silent, Run Deep is still way up there.

I have to agree. Though RSRD is very dated and flawed (Not to mention the whole change in script because someone had their ego hurt. Not to mention that person looks like they are either "on" something, or having a medical emergency the entire film) is still the best we have. Plus it has Burt Lancaster in it, so it's going to be pretty good based off of that.
Atleast it doesn't have some stupid love triangle in it! I can't think of another Fleet Boat film that works better. Though "Crash Dive" looks fun, if only for the real ships used in some shots. Sailor Steve can give you more info on that. From a historical perspective, it's really nice to have. |
Destination Tokyo for me. Yes it has a good bit of propaganda in it, but I've seen wartime movies with much worse (try watching Air Force.). And while the timeline is totally messed up, it's otherwise a great action movie.

Yes it is. I'd forgotten that one.

Operation Petticoat
my kids gave me a DVD of Operation Petticoat.
i had seen it in the past but it just keeps getting funnier every time. The Scrounger sets up a casino in order to generate income in order to buy black market parts for the sub. :har: then, there is their lone torpedo attack. Sighted Tanker. Sank Truck. i can't take it.:har::har::har::har: |
Operation Petticoat is better unedit seem like when they edit it took out some of the best parts

Thanks to the recommendations here, I have to say I enjoyed Run Silent, Run Deep.
I also had no idea the "Bungo Straits" were a thing, so I got a good laugh out of that :Kaleun_Wink: https://ibb.co/7WcjHtS |
