Churchill’s cheap and nasty’s

on September 3rd 1939 U30 under the command of Fritz Julius Lemp torpedoes and sinks the liner Athenia, the war is just 5 hours old but already the precedent has been set this war will encompass unrestricted submarine warfare, the U boats are back and are deadlier than ever.

Now the race begins to counter the old menace, a race that will see one type of ship stand out from the rest.

Definitely my favorite had i been around in that era and old enough i would have gone to the navy either in submarines my first choice or these my second
