NYGM 2017A with Widescreen MaGui 3.4-SA

Hi all/

Wanted to ask this in the Magui thread but its locked.

Long story short, the torpedo depth dials for attack periscope and UZO are showing 5m deeper than the F6 (attack map?) gauge.

I can set my torp depths using Magui dials to lets say 5m. On the F6 screen dials, they show 0m.

I then set my F6 screen dials to 5m and the Magui dials show 10m.

Intrigued, i set my Magui dials to 0m and yay, the F6 dials show 0m.. so i go back to magui dials (UZO or periscope) without touching depth.... and the magui dials are back at 5m.... switch back to F6 dials and they show 0m....

This explains why my torps are sailing way under the boats even when I thought I set them all to 1m.

So i thought this was because of some change made by another mod. I remove all mods except Magui. Still does it.

So then I think its because of the Steibler patch (which changes how often torp failures occur).... Swap over for the 1.4b 4gig patched exe. Still does it.

So, maybe it just happens on all supermods... I load up GXW 3 gold. The torp depth dials coincide always....

Anybody got any ideas?

Im currently looking through the dials.cfg files for both NYGM and GWX to see the differences. If I find anything, I post it here. Not really know what most of it does though.

I'd bet one or more of your mods/game install is messed up. Hsie's patch has the torpedo failure option (not Stiebler's), and it doesn't affect the depth settings visuals in the tdc, scopes, or uzo.
It can affect the actual depth the torpedo runs at., i.e., you could have it set at x on the tdc, etc., but it runs x + when fired. That's how it's model works, so no error there.
But again, the actual depth control visuals aren't affected by that.

So i open the dials.cfg files from NYGM_3 (last change made) and Caws 1.61 (which had basically same file as Magui + a few addons)

Differences I notice.

Code:

NYGM_3 This is for the F6 Attack map dial
[Dial0]
Name=Torp_Depth
Type=16; DIAL_TORP_DEPTH
Cmd=Set_torpedo_depth
Dial=0x3B0600FF
CrtVal=0x3B060001
NewVal=0x0
DialVal=65,330
RealVal=3,25; meters
Circular=Yes
CmdOnDrag=Yes

CAWS 1.61 Im looking here because the dials.cfg originates from Magui.
[Dial0]
Name=Torp_Depth
Type=16; DIAL_TORP_DEPTH
Cmd=Set_torpedo_depth
Dial=0x3B0600FF
CrtVal=0x3B060001
NewVal=0x0
DialVal=30,330
RealVal=0,25; meters

Circular=Yes
CmdOnDrag=Yes

So it seems to me that the highlighted settings could be the problem. I compared these settings across Stock SH3, LSH2015, GWX and they all use the settings from MaGui (CAWS) file.....

So, for some reason NYGM uses a different number. So... I won't change NYGM, I will change Magui to suit it.

I will try first the 3 entries for OBS, UZO and Attack Room.

As Magui has a few slide outs, I may have to change a few more things. I will see I suppose.

NYGM has the tdc depth dial preset at 3.5. The others don't, so that maybe the difference you note.

Completely possible but they all originate from the same stock installation.

I am hoping it is down to NYGM having different settings out of the box and Magui not being changed to suit. I will change it first to see if it works. Then after I plan to find out why it has those different settings.

Are you able to explain the purpse of these?

DialVal=30,330

and

RealVal=0,25; meters

Real val i presume is the initial setting as you say.. And Dial val? Is this the range of dial?

Not sure as I don't use it, but I seem to recall an nygm fix for Magui. Here it is. Check out his media fire page.

No idea, sorry.

I have this fix installed. It doesn't make any changes to the dials.cfg

Are there other files that are important in relation? I browsed the fixes for each supermod I have and nothing is apparent that would change dial behaviour in this way.

I'm not sure; what megamods is this problem in; gwx, nygm, both ?

Kedishen 04-08-19 01:56 AM

NYGM it seems.

Seems it is not only the Magui.

I tried hitmans (which was packaed with NYGM) and a few others and all show discrepancies between the attack page and the dials on other pages.

Will just have to live with it. Dunno why but I seem to prefer NYGM over GWX.

Interestingly, a mixture of stock and mod settings work perfect. Torpedoes run beautifully and at the correct depth. And the guage works spot on. Goodness knows what is making the difference in NYGM. Ther is some setting somewhere that affects it.

Code:

[Dial0]
Name=Torp_Depth
Type=16; DIAL_TORP_DEPTH
Cmd=Set_torpedo_depth
Dial=0x3B0600FF
CrtVal=0x3B060001
NewVal=0x0
DialVal=30,330
RealVal=3,25; meters

Circular=Yes
CmdOnDrag=Yes

Just search your Dials.cfg file for DIAL_TORP_DEPTH and make the appropriate change.

Never seen the problem you mention, and I use NYGM too so thanks but I don't feel the need to change it.
Maybe your NYGM or Hsie patch install is wrong, don't know. The torpedoes are supposed to run at the incorrect depth sometimes, and in NYGM, the depth dial comes preset about 3.5 in all views.
Does that 3.5 depth show on your dials ?

Kedishen 04-08-19 09:53 AM

No, changing the DialVal has returned it to 0m by default but my problem has been solved for the moment as soon as I changed the torp depth, i lost control of torp depth all together. They would always run at at least 5m even in calm seas... every single torpedo. Tested it for hours last night.

Later today I will be doing a fresh copy of NYGM to see if the problem replicates itself with new unpacks of mods.
