Roster cfg files ship names
 

Newbie question time :)

In the roster folder ship .cfg files, there are unit names for ships and their appearance dates defined (actual historical ship names). I thought ships were identified only by their class (as in WEPS message box - we just sink just generic "Liberty Class Freighter" for example), so what are these names used for by the game?
