The Wolves of Steel Installer shuts down without warning.
Hi guys. I'm following the steps for installing the:
The Wolves of Steel 2.2_SH5 Expansion Pack_v2.2.9_Full I've got up to starting the installer, if I leave it without pushing install it just shuts down without warning. I've i'm fast enough I can get to the next page and paste in the directory. It starts to install and after about 5 seconds on installing files it does the same thing, just shuts down without warning. Anyone else had this issue? I've turned off all my protections etc. Running Windows 10. Any help would be much appreciated. Cheers Duncan |
Check your virus protection. You have to allow it, or just shut it off until you get it running.
|
If using Norton, forget it, you will never install it. Get Kaspersky or any other anti-virus.

I have shut off all my protections. It has come up before asking about it and I allowed it, and it still did it.

That doesn’t seem right. Are you installing TWOS full.., or update? If you never had TWOS and accidentally install update I can see an issue.

Does not even come up with a warning that there was an issue or anything, just disappears. |
You have steam. Ok I have the disc. I know there are issues with steam. You may need to search the TWOS database on it. There are issues with that. Good luck to you.

I was just reading articles from older TWOS update for steam and seems it has issues. You are better getting the disc, less issues. By the way, is the version you have updated to 1.2? The Ubisoft patch?

I've got TWoS installed fine on a Win7-64 computer, and had it installed fine on a Win10-64 laptop, until the hard drive died. I now have it running on the same laptop, but with the old 8.1-64 Windows... You no longer have to jump through hoops for the Steam version to get it to go, just use the TWoS Steam installer. The ~really~ important thing on my computer though, was to have a Steam Library install folder that was NOT in a "Program Files" folder. On my laptop, I had to follow the "manual" method of moving the Steam install, since you are only allowed one Steam Library folder per disk, while on my desktop, I put the Steam library folder on a 2nd hard drive. Use the Steam Support link
https://support.steampowered.com/kb_...7418-YUBN-8129 and do some reading about what you might have to do... :salute: |

I think the issue I have is the installer asks to convert to Steam, however I never get to that point. I unziped all the files from the .exe into the folder, that seemed to work ok. Problem I have now is the Generic installer does not see 2 of the 9 files from the patches, I even when into the config file and changed the path and it still refuses to work. What a mess. Not sure what else to do, i've done all windoes updates, microsoft.net updated etc. Thanks for the help. |

Probably not then.

FIXED!
Turns out it seemed to be a bad install file download. I binned the old one and re-downloaded a new one, ran that and it works flawlessly. Cheers guys. |
Have fun
