AOD Huh ?
Hello all;
Don't post much, but do enjoy sub sims. Anyway, fired up the original AOD (not CAOD) and have some crazy behavior I don't recall from before. Convoy hunting, fall 1941 and I'm getting escort behavior like they have radar picking up my scope. Which; a. No such radar even existed until the 1970's I believe, certainly not in WW2. b. I'm - literally - popping up/down the scope in less than a second and escorts come charging at me...............from 20k and more meters distance !?!?! At that distance, I could have the scope up all day. 1.2 patch installed. This happens over and over on this patrol. I'm with a convoy now where I have three escorts coming at me and the closest started at 17k distance.......... Is this a known problem ? Makes submerged attacks impossible obviously. I have not been transmitting on the radio. |
could the problem stem from your 'tough mod ' dosbox install? perhaps a PM to theberbster would be useful.:hmmm:

Just out of curiosity...
What's the processor on the PC you're running now? Using DOSBOX? If so, how many Cycles is it configured for? I noticed on many of my older machines (that were signifigantly faster than the system that I originally played on) the AI would do things that it shouldn't... For example: on one game, playing on the "recomended system reqirements" had a few seconds to move from cover to cover. But playing on a dual core of double the mhz per core, if I poked my head out for a second.... I was instantly spotted, and the alarm raised. Might be what's going on here, your only have your scope up for 3 seconds, but instead of being 75,000,000 cycles (25mhz), it been 6-12,000,000,000 cycles (2-4ghz). So in CPU cycle terms, it been ~4 minutes. Might be what's going on... Or I might be completely off, and/or crazy, you never know!:haha: Barracuda |

Have an old laptop with a 2ghz cpu on it. Think I'll do some experimenting per your idea. Thanks ! |
