Lesson learned. Do some research before travelling.

Here we are in beautiful Maui for the first time and after doing the road to Hana a few days ago, I had a look at some videos of it. That's when I noticed somebody mentioned about visiting Lindbergh's grave. What?? Charlse Lindbergh?? A quick search and I was dumbfounded to find out he spent his last few years in Maui and was buried in Kipahulu. Man, talk about a missed opportunity to pay my respects to such an important historical figure. I usually do some type of research before heading on a trip but was simply way to busy this time. He sure picked an idyllic resting spot.

There is a great aviation documentary called "chasing the sun" which i highly recommend. It makes considerable mention of Lindbergh's final days in Hawaii

Went to Maui in 2004, did the road to Hana, and visited his Grave.

A few months ago I was traveling home from Indiana on the back roads and came across Annie Oakley's grave site in Greenville, Ohio!
:o

I did not know she was a Buckeye!

I'll have to check that out. Sounds good.

Looks like we might do the trip to Hana again since we got a bit of a late start and missed some stuff the daughters wanted to see. Not sure if the wife would care for it though since she was not very fond of all the twisty turns involved. One bit of advice I would give for anybody planning to come here and visit Hana is might be best to do it with an overnight stay there. Instead of doing the return trip the same way, we ended up taking the highway 31 which was a bit hairy in some spots but some fantastic views. Pretty amazing how the landscape changes from dense tropical rainforest to some pretty arid conditions in such a short distance.

On one of my visits to York a few years back I came across the grave of Dick Turpin.

If you're referring to me then I'm afraid I don't recall taking any but there are a good few here: https://www.google.co.uk/maps/uv?hl=...oiowE3oECAYQBg
