Nice, there is a cleaner version out there though without those other 2 shows montaged in.

They're not giving away much, although we see a Korvettenkapitän on the bridge in this one. I think we also catch a glimpse of one of the original actors in the others, too.

Yeah worst thing is there is no way i can watch it on sky Germany. I checked, i need a satalite for that. But i hope it finds its way over the border soon (i live in Holland) Im really looking forward to it.

I really loved the original, how it kept you in the action as if you were there... this, hmm not so sure on now I've seen this trailer, didn't pull me in like the original. We'll have to wait and see.

Judge it on its own merit, if you compare it to the original, you're probably setting your self up for disappointment.

I agree with Harag. It was claimed it picked up from where the original ended. And it does not. I feared that "human interest" would appear and so it will. A better script would have been that the Captain did not die, the Chief survived the air-raid, so look-alike actors could have been used. Its a safe bet that actual action will be minimal, and nowhere near the level of the original. As it will only be shown on Sky (which i dont have) I will have to wait until we get reports here, or somebody loads episode one on youtube.

Looks pretty crappy. I dont expect much, too much relationship drama content it seems.

However once it's available elsewhere (don't use sky) I will of course watch it anyway. |
It is a very very heavy task to battle Wolfgang Petersen...
There are some leagues between the two directors...:03: |
This is a German review of the series, surprisngly it describes the mini series quite positively. I link the German text.
https://www.welt.de/kultur/kino/arti...nd-Kritik.html Also, I would not write off this series easily because of the fact that the series was directed by no nobody, but by Andreas Prochaska. And this Andreas Prochaska has directed a movie which I rate to be one of the best German language movies of the past decade: The Dark Valley (Das dunkle Tal). If somebody thinks Germans/Austrians could not shoot a superb Western set in the European Alps, then let him watch this film. Really, its an excellent masterpiece of work. Superb photography, and a rather grim revenge tale of merciless and brutal consequence. https://www.amazon.com/Dark-Valley-S...review-section It seems they did not make the mistake to directly compete with Petersen's classic. That is not possible, the settings are different, the audience is different today, the story has been told best back then, so why repeating it? Its a new story, and the approach is set to open access for the modern consumation behaviour of the audience of today. And this can be something good or bad. Whether this works for good or worse remains to be seen. But there is hope. Somebody who can narrate and direct a movie like The Dark Valley, must understand his job a bit. |

Anyone heard any news on when this will be screened in the UK?
