IE how long and how many shot it took to destroy an average cargo vessel

The Surcouf (N N 3) is one of the absolute worst designs in submarine construction. :03:

Regularly with such large calibers (the exceptions confirm the rule) not shot at merchant ships, capital ships used for their medium artillery of 5 a/o 6inch.
