Non Japanese merchants?

I recently reinstalled (Gold edition at version 1.5) and am running the following mods:
Websters GFO 1.1
Websters New Orders Bar
RFB 2.0 (with patch)
RSRDC_RFB V575
GFO Patch for RSRDC
Environmental 5.0 mod


I've run one full war patrol and am in the middle of another. Both have been in the Makassar Strait between Borneo and Celebes, January - February 1942.


So far, I've run down three merchants, but none of them have been Japanese. I didn't even know that was possible, so I wanted to poll the board here and see if maybe I'm getting a bug? All three merchants have been flying the flag in the picture at the link below (apologies for the dark shot, all the intercepts have been at night). It looks like an inverted Dutch flag, which seems really weird to me. Any insights?

Make it four in a row. After chasing the last one for most of a day, I admit that I sank him out of spite.

I've seen many Dutch merchants early in the war.

... and Australian, especially if you go to the Marshalls on your first patrol... Do what you're supposed to do for your patrol, then head over toward the Carolinas, for Truk or Palau, and you'll find all sorts of meatballs and rising suns - perhaps too many of the latter... :salute:

Ahoy if you bring up the ship ID book and click on the the arrows it will show each country (Japan America France ect) with a picture of their respective flag.

Thanks for the re-link Cybermat47! I don't see Yugoslavia as a nation in either RFB or RSRDC, and I still can't see that flag very well... old eyes I guess... what did the Free French flag look like? or Poland's? Though I don't know why either of them would be found near the Makassar Strait either... no matter though, you just have to keep looking for the known enemy combatants... :salute:
