James Bond Thread

Feel free to post video, photos, and preferably stories about what you think is the best Bond, such as Sir Roger Moore as an example. In order for it to be worthy of all, it's not possible to post more once, until the next man to do his part, and then we will continue.....Good luck.:salute:

Sean Connery is at number one for me

I was once offered the lead in a James Bond movie... absolutely true, that

Mind you, it was at the local film-club so I don't guess I'd have got to snog Brigitte Bardot

The actor that in my opinion matches the character in the book is Daniel Craig.

Bond in the books is a kind of thug. Not the polished pretty boy in the movies. He was, as described in the books, a blunt instrument.

it is too bad that Craig can't get a decent Bond script.

I am a big fan of the Flemming books, not so much a fan of the movies. The earlier ones were entertaining.

This is how Flemming pictured Bond

Best Bond was Connery closely followed by Craig.

Best Bond: Tough one between Connery and Moore (me being too influenced by the Moore times).
Best villain: Jaws. May not be the classiest but his surreal and evil appearance works for me.

Best anagram for "My name is Bond. James Bond": "My boss Jim banned no dame" closely followed by "same bed, son. Mind my banjo!".

Best Bond Daniel Craig he comes across as a thug who could not give a toss about rules.

I think Bond played by the early Sean Connery and now Craig represent best what Ian Fleming had in mind; in his books Bond is neither especially clever nor is he elegant or a lady's man. The original Bond has no empathy, no ethos and no belief except to serve, without thinking. The films with early Connery and now Craig are exciting, but it is for the (overblown) action, brutality and scenery, not because of the character.
Or in short, in german words, the original person of Bond is a bore and "bierernst", and the english "deadly serious" is only a weak translation.

Which is why i prefer Roger Moore. He transformed the role and mocked the never-humorous macho super hero, he made fun of those thugs, was self-critical and a bit ridiculous. It is a sign of the times that the original Bond is coming back, along with other backward changes in society.

My thoughts exactly. Connery, Moore, Brosnan, they were entertaining, amusing, yes - but not really representing the Bond from the books. Craig was closest to that. Also, a split, somewhat broken character, not so smooth and streamlined.

Judy Dench was the best M, for comparable reasons.

The word dueling between Craig and Eva Green in the train probably is the wittiest piece of dialogue in all the series. I still laugh today.

Anyone like Lazenby or Dalton? :hmmm:

I like all the actors. I dislike most of their Bond movies. Not the actor's fault, though some fit the mold better than others. The Connery films started off following the books fairly closely. With Roger Moore they started trending toward the "fun" category, almost becoming spoofs. From there it just got worse. Casino Royale was the first one in a long time to have not only the basic plot of the book but also its feel, even though being updated by 50+ years.
